The atmosphere within the house continued to bristle no end tonight as we witnessed the continuance of the party task as the housemates prepared to entertain Big Brother for his birthday. While Charley got over her fear of clowns and donned full make up (rather priceless actually) and Brian slowly but surely showed he had little musical aptitude for his role as a one man band. The rest of the housemates who were the designated ‘party goers’ (Ziggy,Carole.Nicky,Gerry) were ushered into a ‘party room’ given smart and colourful if slightly childish clothes to wear and told to have a ‘good time’.

Maybe it was the repetition of such songs as ‘Agadoo’ that quickly grated on their nerves or maybe the superfluous amounts of sugar they were ingesting through fizzy drinks and cakes but before long there were sparks flying at the party. Nicky made the mistake of trying to snipe at Ziggy in a veiled fashion when he took one of Gerry’s double entendres in a good fashion (apparently she tried the same thing a while ago and he chewed her out about it). She accused him of double standards and Ziggy quickly rose to the bait in that subtle passive yet very effective fashion he does oh so well. Nicky quickly tried to back down but Gerry too spotted the weakness and before long they were circling her like predators and metaphorically ripping chunks out of her flanks.

Sorry, too much coffee this morning…was that a touch dramatic…

Speaking of drama, Charley was another one slinging the mud in a similar fashion. This time her chosen target was Brian, and lets be fair she only did it because she could. The poor guy is at best a little on the sensitive side yet surprisingly quick to anger when left to her tender mercies. In the end he retired to the diary room and burst into tears and hence secured his position as the winner of Big Brother 2007.

Unless he does something monumentally stupid to mess it up of course…

The actual task was relatively easy to pass, Charley and Tracey deserved their points just on appearance alone and to watch Charley going toe to toe with Brian in full clown regalia was nothing short of surreal and quite frankly hilarious.

Liam and Channelle put in a sterling performance as the magician and assistant. His tricks were believe it or not simple but impressive and I doubt I could have attained such sleight of hand skills with the limited time available. Brian of course…was Brian. His musical skills were sorely limited but the lovable buffoon act proved it still had considerable mileage in it for now.

All in all though the house is wound tighter than a spring right now. The surface tensions are held in check by a veneer of pleasantry but something’s got to give.
