April 28th will see Madonna looking to capitalise on her previous ‘career peak’ (Confessions On A Dancefloor) with her next album Hard Candy which promises to continue her thematic embrace of club culture albeit this time round with more of an urban slant on proceedings. You only have to look at the participants onboard for the latest project to see that she might just be foregoing the Eurocentric flavour of her last release in favour of working with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake (who will feature on the first single 4 Minutes).

Of course in real terms Madge has bugger all to prove, she might be knocking fifty but she’s got 200 million album sales behind her and while her forays into film directing, acting and writing books might draw a few dubious stares her recent track record in the musical stakes is surprisingly strong considering it took about six months to blow torch her out of that bloody leotard. Blimey, it only seems like two minutes since she was all puppy fat and bin liners and bangles and prancing about singing ‘Holiday’. Time it would seem doesn’t go by so slowly after all…
