It is sexy, as only cavalli can do. Animal print, snake motif- he’s done everything from underwear, to jewelery, to beautiful long flowing dresses for the high street chain H&M. With the debut of this one-time collection, ‘Roberto Cavalli for H&M,’ fans of Cavalli’s clothing now have a more affordable way to get their hands on his glamorous and sensual designs for as little as £9.99.

Leopard and zebra is a significant theme in the women’s collection, and features on dresses, tops, coats and lingerie. A tailored jacket is teamed with slim slacks or shorts. A leather jacket is decorated with fringes and laces and a fake-fur jacket has eyelets and studs. An elegant trench coat has piping and metallic studs. A heavily embellished jacket adds instant glamour to tight fitting or wide leg jeans. A leopard-print or black corset top look dazzling on bare skin for evening or over a T-shirt for day, and there are several blouses with animal prints, ruffles and bows. Knitwear consists of a leopard-print or black over sized cardigan and a tank mini dress with ruffles.

My search was for the evening sequined mini dress and the serpent ring, as seen on many an advert. I walked into all the H&M stores from high street ken, Bond Street and into Oxford Street.
“The rings were sold out within the first three minutes of the opening.” one sales assistant told me. And the sequin dress, “Only the one left on the manikin you could head over to our bond street branch.” At Bond Street it was the same story.

The good thing about this opening is that there was no pushing and shoving as was seen in Stella McCartney’s opening, perhaps the Cavalli name, synonymous with nightlife and glamour, saw many a fan still dazed after their night out.

Blame it on my annoyance at not being able to buy the serpent ring but the men’s underwear including both jersey and woven Y-fronts and boxer shorts were horrid. Also making it to my horrid list was the black leather jacket, the brown one must have been a hit as there was none left in all the London stores.

There was something for everyone especially leopard printed lingerie with black prints, if you know your bra size.

Cavalli described his union with high street brand H&M as “a wedding”. This high street shopper needs her ring to symbolize it.
