Three singles for your audio perusal today kicking off with Ali Love’s new single ‘Late Night Session’. While this isn’t going to necessarily make the world a better place its harmless enough splicing together some nice pop and disco sensibilities which might give this one some longevity in the clubs and dare I say enough of an infectious chorus to trouble the chart faithful. Where this track really does shine however is in its instrumental form where without the distraction of the vocal it does become a shimmery lazy handbag chancer of a track. Unexpectedly interesting.

Next up is the debut single by Proxy, Jet Lag will be released on download only through Digital Island on Monday 22nd October. As debuts go I’ve heard considerably worse and there are some nice little touches on offer here, its not an immediate track for jabbing your consciousness but given time it might find itself worming its way in and setting up a temporary home in your head. It’s very much in the vein of the restrained but growling guitars and lo fi handclap styling we’re becoming used to, and the odds are the band is incredibly young and they all have very skinny legs.

Track of the day however comes from Detroit rockers The Satin Peaches, right from the outset the muted but insistent piano line more or less sealed it for me, coupled with some wailing old school guitar and haunted backing vocals drifting through the chorus if there is any justice this one should have hit stamped all over it. Very nice indeed and while we are it they will be playing the London Astoria as part of the NME Freshers tour on October 9th
