This week see the frankly piss poor offerings of one single landing on my doorstep. That in itself is enough to annoy me but when its a Katie Melua single well you can pretty much be sure things aren’t going to end well.

That said one has to be fair and I did listen to it in its entirety. ‘A Happy Place’ (out on July 26th) is another slab of Melua’s usual irksome whimsy this time co written by former pop statesman Guy Chambers and produced by none other than uber desk jockey William Orbit. It would seem that not only is she prepared to inflict another three minutes of banal sweetly cooed shite into the public conscience this time round she is quite prepared to take down a decent writer and producer combination in the process.

If you buy this, you hate music. No really, its the kind of thing those headfucked couples who wander round Homebase of a weekend absolutely adore. As they plan for their half arsed fucking dinner parties, you can guarantee this kind of shit will be playing in the background as the highlight of their month is having Tammy and Steven round “for drinks”..

Fucks sake.

Avoid.
