It’s time to get out your pen and paper (Dayplanner, Blackberry delete as appropriate) and pencil in a spot of free time on 20th December, shall we say…ooh around lunch? (12:00 – 12:45pm). The venue will be shall we say, The Union Chapel.

The Chapel itself is an award winning venue with projects sets up in 1991 to make its facilities open to a diverse group of people with an emphasis on marginalised groups such as the homeless and since the summer has been playing host to a series of weekly musical events courtesy of Anne Garner.

The free lunchtime date on the 20th will include a number of musicians including ‘Squal’ consisting of Laura Reid on cello (who plays for Kathryn Williams) and Owen Green on laptop.

Also playing will be Michael Bonaventure, a contemporary organist who has given over 50 premieres of new works and arrangements and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Scotland as well as performing widely in the UK and US.

Finally Anne Garner will be playing (accompanied by Jim Murray on guitar and bass), if you aren’t familiar with her music it draws from a rich heritage of singer/songwriters and a considerable performance history that has included support slots for the likes of The Shamen and The Orb. Her promotional album Magic & Madness is still available and is definitely one of the finer albums I’ve looked at this year (Have a look at her myspace link below) for some of her latest demos.

If you’re in the area this should be one to definitely make time for, oh and there’s mulled wine and mince pies…what more could you ask for?
