It’s been a slow week for reviewing folks, the snarl up that is our postal service at the moment seems to have left the cupboard bare, so my singles review is actually a single review. And excuse me while I contain my enthusiasm but it’s a Tiesto single. Yes, everybody’s favourite anaemic stadium filler returns with his latest single ‘Escape Me’ (featuring C.C Sheffield) out on November 23rd.

I was told to show a bit of professionalism with this review…

But after sampling it’s delights I thought I might as well proceed in my usual delicate fashion. In my eyes Tiesto remains something of a mystery, there’s no questioning his popularity but for me I just don’t get it. In a world where there is some truly amazing electronica and dance music kicking about at the moment he delivers another leaden slab of 4/4 driven trance topped off with a strained karaoke vocal. There is of course an obligatory disc of remixes which tweak and alter things slightly in the vain hope that some of the shit slung actually sticks. There’s even an almost passable moment when Aviciis gets his hands on the track and delivers a bit of drama (and strips away most of the cack handed vocal).

The rest of the offerings however make me screw my face up with cynicism because this is frankly dire. It is also interesting to note that on the back of the single his licensing email address is fairly prominent which pretty much insinuates that all concerned in this release long since gave up on integrity and now scrabble around on the floor hoovering up bank notes like a dog looking for crumbs while they seek ‘product placement’.

Fucking awful.

Have a good weekend everybody.
