Travie McCoy releases his new single ‘Billionaire’ on July 26th courtesy of Fueled By Ramen. Travie, for those that don’t know is the doe eyed heavily tattooed frontman of Gym Class Heroes, and if you’re a fan of said band’s erstwhile blend of laid back tongue in cheek pop/hip hop then you’ll have an idea of what to expect.
Aided and abetted by Bruno Mars who turns in a suitably summery vocal Travie delivers another one of his low brow slacker mentality raps that does nothing to tax the thought processes or the emotional response of the listener. He spends three minutes telling us how badly he wants to be a ‘freaking billionaire’ Is he taking the fucking piss? If he’s not come out of his career with a bit salted away by now then he’s as stupid as a bag of hammers.
There’s no irony in this song, its just bloody lazy. Literally an exercise in padding the charts with coma victim music you know your fan base is going to buy regardless of how shit it is.
