Carolina Liar (odd name innit?) release their debut album ‘Coming To Terms’ on September 21st with the single ‘I’m Not Over’ preceding it on September 7th. Expect radio friendly pop rock at the lighter end of the scale but in this case that’s no bad thing. The album is essentially a meeting of minds between the band’s singer and songwriter Chad Wolfe and Swedish impressario Max Martin who has tweaked the dials and penned the hits for the likes of Britney, Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry (I know, I know you’re expecting to pull out a giant meaty dagger and start hacking this album to pieces aren’t you).

Truth be told this is one hell of a ‘guilty pleasure’ album, very solidly produced with a uniformly rounded radio sound and songs with hooks crawling all over the place. There’s a potential single waiting in the wings on just about all the songs on offer here (one of the high point’s of the album ‘Show Me What I’m Looking For’ has already done the honours and got heavy rotation on Radio 1 and XFM).

Granted in terms of genre and sound this doesn’t represent any grand departure or groundbreaking definition of a new sound but all involved know and play to their strengths bringing a uniformly positive result.

A noteworthy debut.
