The Leeds Marriott hotel is located bang in the centre of Leeds, close to the train station and, more importantly for the ladies, about a minute away from Harvey Nichols and all the other fabulous shops.

The reception was busy, but efficient and friendly. We didn’t want to eat at the hotel, so the receptionist directed us to a fantastic Italian restaurant in the City Centre.

Our room was modern, clean and had a cosiness to it, which is often missed by hotel chains in their quest to be ‘cool’. We ordered a bottle of Champagne, which took over half an hour to arrive, could have been a problem if we were rushing out or had romance on our minds! But, the Champagne was good quality and had been chilled properly. Our view looked over the covered hotel pool and gym areas and spanned across rooftops, but we liked it.

The bath was quite small, but our bathroom was clean and functional and the skin care products were lovely.

I enjoyed the bar and the staff were friendly and efficient. It was a little strange in that there did seem to be quite a few families there, but that’s my problem, as I’m not used to staying in places that allow children. In their defence they were all well behaved.

Breakfast was great – lots of choice and a ‘help yourself’ format. Easy for everyone. I ate quite a lot!

I enjoyed staying at the Marriott and would highly recommend it, as it’s so central and all shops, restaurants, bars and attractions are only a short walk away.
