Through the post arrived a four-track CD, ‘This is how we roll‘ full of infectious sounds and vocals from Darlings of the Splitscreen. So infectious I found myself checking out more of their tracks on their MySpace page.

The outfit from Sheffield consist of Boy, Tom Wow and Grizzle and come under the Gold Leaf Electroscope label. I don’t for one second believe they were the names handed over to the General Registry Office at birth but nevertheless they match the electro-pop sound.

Much to my pleasure the whole 4 tracks on the EP were creative and original, I especially liked In/Out, track 3. DOTS reminded me a little of Erlend Oye and Hot Chip and on their MySpace page they say their influences were Talking Heads, Bowie, Metronomy, Cut Copy and Justin Timberlake.

They’re touring and you can catch them in London at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club on October 20th. If you can’t make it to London then they’ll also be visiting Newcastle, Dublin, Preston, Sheffield, Manchester, Berlin, Hannover and Hamburg – check their MySpace page by clicking on the link below.
