Kicking off this week’s post Glasto singles with a release courtesy of Kid Sister, not to worry if this name doesn’t ring any bells. The initial release for this track was a low key affair back in January when everyone was wrapped up in their post Christmas blues and mourning their lack of cash. It might have slipped under the radar once but I suspect it won’t do again. With something of an old school delivery to it mixed with a suite of bouncy burbly sounds and a guest appearance from none other than Kanye West what more could you ask for? Well for starters there’s remixes courtesy of Bag Raiders (Hurrah!) and Gant Man (eh?). Keep them peeled for this one, its a mover and a shaker.

Next up Madonna returns with her latest single ‘Give It 2 Me’, sadly not as strong as ‘4 Minutes’ but then very little of her last album is. Its got that lo res relatively cheap synth backing that is de rigeur in the world of hip hop at the moment. This is her equivalent of ‘I’m So Sexy’ by Right Said Fred, rather mediocre I fear. Its out on the 7th July while her ‘divorce proceedings fund’…sorry her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour hits London on September 11th

One of the highlights of this week for me comes courtesy of Eliza Doolittle, there’s a little sampler of her forthcoming album ‘Rollerblades’ which isn’t out until 1st September. However from the five tracks I have heard she shows a lot of promise, she works from the left of centre position traditionally ignored by the plethora of wannabe folk/soul/whatever ladies who are kicking up their heels at the moment. There’s little need for embellishment in her work and it comes across as relaxed and confident pop with a strong acoustic leaning. All this with a strong effortless vocal delivery as well definitely one to watch.
