Steven Finn comes the Union Chapel as part of the Daylight Festival on the 21st September offering a lively and effervescent brand of blues and acoustic material. His material has been described as “footstomping songs of social comment delivered with passion, energy and integrity”. If you take the time to have a listen to his songs on his myspace page its very easy to see why this is a most apt description. The simmering energy is evocative in his recordings so just imaging what a live setting will do for him.

On the 22nd (at 12:30pm) the Chapel plays host to the lazy sub aquatic meandering grooves of Dollboy (have a listen to Status on his myspace page if you want the audio reconciliation of that description). All it takes is a listen to some of Dollboy’s offerings to make you realise this is gonna be gorgeous and one you shouldn’t miss.

As if that wasn’t enough on the same bill is Slowcraft, for those of you who don’t know this is the collaborative efforts of the marvellous talents of Anne Garner and production maestro Jim Murray, once again this promises to be a blinder and a suitable prelude to the release of their first album ‘The Winter Book’ (have a listen to ‘Falling Here’ for a taster of what to expect…lovely stuff).

As always it’s free, and if you want my two penneth this weekend’s offerings promise to be very special. Get yourself along to the Chapel and immerse yourself in some serious sounds.
