Regulars to Channel 4/E4 can’t have failed to notice the presence of their teen drama ‘Skins’. The story of a group of obscenely cool teenagers as they hurtle through their formative years under a deluge of anxiety/drugs/parties and alcohol. The kids are all good looking, acne free and if you’re a keen watcher you can’t have failed to notice the blisteringly youthful soundtrack that adorns every scene.

That same soundtrack has been collated for release through Fascination Records on September 10th. A collection of songs that seem to effortlessly sum up what it means to be young. Starting with the stumbling new born chatter of Fat Segal’s Skins Theme Tune and taking in the bands that capture the spirit of now (coupled with some evergreen youth inspired tracks from the likes of Adam & The Ants).

When you slap together the likes of Gossip (with a speed fuelled Soulwax mix to boot), Bloc Party, DJ Shadow, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Roots Manuva and The Hives it all hangs together like a hormone drenched teenager dosed up on pills out looking to get laid. Marvellous stuff.

If you haven’t caught Skins yet the first series is stamping its way through a repeat performance on Channel 4 and a second series is currently in production. The party isn’t over…
