You might remember that a while ago I gave a little heads up to Swedish Rockers The Sounds. The new single ‘Painted by Numbers’ out on the 27th (digital) and September 3rd (CD) has already been given words of encouragement by the likes of Q amongst others. Remixed by Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, The Killers) it’s a suitably trashy thrashy number with one of those clear bright Euro vocals and enough synth credentials to make this one a crossover hit in any variety of club you care to imagine. The rest of the world calls them dirty, I’m inclined to agree. Keep your eyes peeled for this lot.
Akala lands with his new single “Bit by Bit”. Breakneck rhymes and a rapid fire syncopated bleep synth backing make this one a sure fire worker. Its hard to know where this track’s real strength lies so I’ll settle by saying everywhere. The vocal delivers with a sublime urgency and while the music comes on like Kraftwerk on speed. Potentially a dancefloor monster. Put this one on your list.
