P Diddy returns with another cut from his ‘Press Play’ album in the form ‘Through The Pain (She Told Me)’ as soon as I discovered he was sharing the vocal duties with Mario Winans I’ll confess I was a touch crestfallen expecting something so sickly it would have had me reaching for the bucket.
However…
Its not too bad, the song is saved by a hypnotic Eurocentric backing that seeps pervasively through it’s duration. While this isn’t going to be a life changing moment for anyone, it’s a reasonable enough effort. Its backed with ‘P Diddy Rock’ which features the talents of Twista and Shawnna and once again owes a considerable debt to the likes of Kraftwerk with its bleep laden sensibilities. Plus if you’ve not heard Twista drop lyrics its worth the admission price alone.
Out on download on the 20th August with a physical release on the 27th sadly there doesn’t appear to be any remixes on the horizon for this one which is truly a wasted opportunity but I daresay the bootleggers will have fun with this one.
