Evenin’ all.

(Or morning if you’re boning up for a watercooler moment in the office, you naughty workshy buggers you).

Tonight was quite frankly…tedious.

We stand in the face of losing one of the better housemates this week and as if to rub salt in the wounds…Channelle was acting up.

Aaaaaaaaand when I saying acting up, she wasn’t doing it by halves. It seems that her mewling, wailing and general kicking off were aspects that seemed to dominate the program tonight.

Why?

Well, there was a talent show task and she didn’t want to play the violin.

Cue some lengthy and vehement histrionics from the Wakefield girl that culminated in her throwing the dummy out in the diary room and of course digging out the old chestnut.

…I wanna go hooooooooooooooome!!

Of course this is about as likely to happen as me, dropping into the Big Brother garden on a bungee rope (yeah, I’ll be out to the helicopter pad in five minutes, just let me write this). I wouldn’t have minded so much but she’s a grade eight violinist. Now that’s not bad going and certainly elevates her above the screech and scrape mongers out there.

Luckily for the rest of the house there were other things going on to soften her up over the day. Finding out Charley was up for nominations seemed to buck her up a little and a message from home was never going to dampen her spirits and of course there was the prospect of watching the other housemates doing their part for the talent show as well.

They all had their little roles to perform.

As it was a talent show each housemate had something to do.

Gerry was overall in charge of the show as the Executive Producer. Tracey was a judge cast in the mould of Simon Cowell. Amanda meanwhile was more a Sharon Osbourne “supportive” judge. Liam had to play the keyboards, Carole had to sing ‘Stairway To Heaven’, and Charley was the presenter. Channelle had to play the violin, while Ziggy had to perform his old boy band hit ‘Love On The Northern Line’. Brian had to perform ‘Fit But You Know It’ by The Streets (which sadly wasn’t shown on the main show).

In between all this happening there was a truly bristling atmosphere between Channelle and Charley that made moderately interesting viewing. As for the tasks, Liam was passable in his efforts, Carole tried hard but I still found myself reaching for the sleeping tablets, Ziggy was agonising to watch and he was clearly ashamed (and rightly so) of his past. As for Channelle…

…she was good (and she got the highest score, albeit in a rigged fashion, y’know a bit like those phone lines…talk about art imitating life). OK she wasn’t note perfect but give her a violin and she certainly knew what she was doing. The whole thing must have bolstered her confidence because she was rethinking her departure plans by the end of the night.
