Next on the Daylight schedule at the Union Chapel for the 13th March is Yumi Hara Cawkwell. A composer, performer and DJ who moved to the UK in 1993 from Japan and graduated in music from City University in London in 1999. An award winner in the Continuum Ensemble Improvisation Competition and a finalist in the British Composer Awards 2006 in the solo piano category. A regular improvised performance artist and DJ she is also a member of performance art girlband Frank Chickens as well as being a lecturer in Music at the University of East London.

Her work is often improvised using found sounds such as cicada, water, temple bells and street noise. Listening to her compositions the listener is left lulled by their ambience (Groove Study particularly with its rain water rhythms) while vocally she has projects with a powerful ambience and has a fully booked calendar in terms of live work.

Yuki will be onstage from 12:30pm and as always the event is a free one, so if you can why not nip along.
