It feels like I’ve been waiting for this song to land on my doorstep for what feels like months. So whether I’m early or late with this review, well frankly I don’t care. Tracey Thorn, more famously known as one half of Everything But The Girl returns with her first single Its All True from her soon to be released solo album ‘Out Of The Woods’.

Gorgeous it is as well, light and playful electro pop that would cool quickly were it nor for Thorn’s casual and evocative warmth washing casually over the top. Intermingled with a slightly clattery yet unobtrusive beat track and some suitably understated strings this is one of her seven collaborations on her new album that makes it a prospect worth waiting for.

The single hosts some suitably pleasing mixes as well. The Escort mix retreads familiar for someone of Thorn’s stylings with a warm suite of light funk guitar work while Martin Buttrich places more emphasis on the funk house electronica aspect with his synth driven offering in a nine minute plus workout for the dancefloor. Nice highly pitch stabs give way to a cracked open almost deep house offering that bubbles along nicely for the duration.

Finally Darshan, Sasse & Ewan shore up the back with a suitably pleasing dub mix, a slow building version of the single mix but one sans vocal which has already made me think of bootleg possibilities.

Single of the week, if you haven’t got it already.
