Not exactly a household name in the UK but Pretty Ricky return with a new single ‘On The Hotline’. Nothing ear shattering in terms of form but a passable little slice of R’n’B in the more seductive mould and one that borrows a little chunk from Salt “N” Pepa’s “Let’s Talk About Sex” for good measure. This one is strictly for those low lit late night moments when you drape yourself over the silk sheets, get out the hot oils and try not to burn your house down with an errant use of candles.

It’s all low slung basslines, playful little piano riffs and teasing percussion and when you want to…ahem…really get down to it. There’s an instrumental which should hopefully aid concentration by virtue of stripping out the slightly predictable ‘love you long time’ rap that punctuates the normal edit.

The track is already getting rotation on Choice FM and BBC’s 1Xtra and you can check out the “sultry and glossy” video on Channel U, VNL and MTV Base. It’s a precursor to their new album Late Night Special that promises a collection of ‘mouth watering ballads’ apparently. That of course remains to be seen, but for now the single is out on March 5th and is released through Atlantic Records
