Current indie darlings The Long Blondes capitalise on recent good press and their first headline tour with the release of the new single ‘Once & Never Again’ out on the 23rd October. Rather good it is too, a jangly slice of guitar pop with just a touch of The Smiths sensibilities to it (just a touch mind, lets not go overboard here). A tale of knowledge and more than a hint of seduction from a voice of experience with the suitably urgent vocal delivery of Kate Jackson which owes passing nods to some of indie pop’s leading ladies of yesteryear.

The Long Blondes are actually pretty much deserving of the hype with a clutch of low key but quality releases to their name and to top it all they’ve won the favour of the likes of Zane Lowe on Radio 1 and respectable rotation on the likes of 6Music and XFM London. Add to this a headline slot on the MTV2 Gonzo shows and date at the Mean Fiddler on the 17th (with support from The 1990’s as well…promising if the single is anything to go by).

The single will be available in the de rigueur twin 7” vinyl and maxi CD formats with a host of B Sides and rather gimmicky extras to boot and if you are a nerdy completist you can cop the lot for a fiver from recordstore.co.uk.
