Ah, nothing like breaking up a happy home. In a week where two of the biggest characters faced off in the latest round of evictions we saw Lea being the latest housemate to fall to the public’s wishes. This had to be one of the most closely contended elimination rounds the show has given us yet.

Whoever left this time was bound to be a loss to the house as a whole. However from a tactical viewpoint it was always going to be Lea leaving tonight, lets be fair we now have Jayne to fill the…ahem…older maternal role and if you’re looking for someone who can perform in the crudeness stakes she can outperform the competition with ease as she has already show to great effect with her moose like belching and farting.

Elsewhere a crowded house has made for a relatively calm environment following the return of Aisleyn. After her histrionics the other night she appears to have made peace with her enemies (Nikki) but for those who still hoping for a hint of trouble there still appears to be some sparks of conflict with Jayne which I suspect would take very little to fan into an open flame.

The actual eviction itself was relatively painless, predominantly positive with only a mild smattering of jeers. This was one character that didn’t manage to earn herself the villain status that had earlier been reserved for the likes Grace and Sezer. In terms of the interview however she was extremely hard work. Getting anything out of her was like pulling teeth and my sympathies were with Davina this time round. At times her disenfranchised approach to the interview process proved uncomfortable to watch.

The departure of Lea will remove a healthy chunk of the paranoia she has been supplying to the house but there is the possibility that it will also allow characters like Pete to shine and Glyn to focus an attraction on someone closer to his own age. Keeping Richard still means that as the inevitable splits in the new house appear at least one herd of residents should have a capable “leader” (especially if the slightly cocksure Aisleyn starts leading the opposition).

The new week should prove interesting, the reintroduction of Aisleyn and the new housemates will work almost like a reboot for the program. Lets see what happens next (oh…and can we please lose Imogen now).
